DealsChecked is designed to minimize personal data collection.
Data we process
We may process standard server logs for security and reliability, aggregated outbound-click counts, Google Analytics traffic measurements, and information you voluntarily submit through the contact channel.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage, such as visited pages, traffic sources, device category, and approximate geography. Google may process cookies, device information, and network information under its own privacy terms.
What we do not use
We do not use user accounts, cross-site fingerprinting, or store complete IP addresses as long-term analytics identifiers in our own database.
Affiliate links
When you follow an eligible merchant link, the affiliate network and merchant may process information under their own privacy policies.
Retention
Application and security logs are kept only as long as reasonably needed for security and reliability. Aggregated daily click counts do not contain full IP addresses.
UK and EEA visitors (UK GDPR)
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, DealsChecked is the controller of the personal data described on this page. The controller is DealsChecked. To make a privacy request, use the Contact page.
Purposes and lawful bases
- Operating and securing the site, including server logs and abuse prevention: our legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
- Google Analytics measurement of aggregate site usage: your consent (Article 6(1)(a)). Analytics cookies and storage are used only after you accept.
- Affiliate click attribution, which records which campaign led to a partner link: your consent for the attribution cookies described below. Aggregated daily click counts are kept on the basis of our legitimate interests in reporting on the site.
Who receives your data
Google (Google Analytics), Cloudflare (hosting, security and the country signal used to show the cookie choice), the affiliate networks Levanta and PartnerBoost, and Amazon. When you follow an outbound link, Amazon and the affiliate network process the visit under their own privacy terms.
International transfers
Some of these recipients process data outside the UK and the EEA. Where this happens they rely on the transfer safeguards in their own terms, such as standard contractual clauses or the UK-US data bridge where it applies.
Retention
Consent choices are kept for 180 days. Attribution cookies last up to 90 days, and the click identifier lasts 10 minutes. Google Analytics data follows the retention settings in our Google Analytics configuration. Server logs are kept as described above.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, erase or restrict your personal data, to object to processing, to request portability, and to withdraw consent at any time through the Cookie settings link in the footer. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before you withdrew it.
Complaints
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. If you are in the EEA, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Cookies
Visitors in the UK and the EEA see a cookie choice before any analytics or attribution storage is written. Visitors elsewhere see no banner. Strictly necessary cookies and storage are used for everyone.
