Amazon coupon types explained

Clip coupons, promo codes, automatic discounts, and stacking, in plain terms.

Amazon runs several discount mechanisms that behave differently at checkout, and mixing them up is the most common reason a deal seems broken.

Automatic discounts

The price is already reduced on the product page or reduces itself at checkout. Nothing to enter. Our cards label these "Automatic discount - no code required".

Promo codes

A code entered in the payment step. Codes are often limited to selected variants, first orders, or one use per account. Our cards show the exact code with a copy button and any conditions the source data carries.

Clip coupons

An on-page checkbox that applies a fixed amount or percentage when ticked. Clip coupons frequently disappear when a budget runs out, sometimes before the stated end date.

Stacking

Some combinations stack (a clip coupon plus subscribe-and-save often does); most code-plus-code combinations do not. The checkout total is the only reliable confirmation of what stacked.
