How do I check whether a coupon code still works?

A code is only active for you when it is accepted for the exact item, seller, account, and region in your cart. Work through the eligibility list — exact product, seller, account, region, expiration — then confirm the discount in the checkout total before paying.

What does a coupon expiration date actually prove?

An expiration date only states the merchant's advertised last date. Acceptance still depends on the item, seller, account, and region, so a future date alone does not guarantee the code will be accepted.

Why does a valid-looking code fail at checkout?

The most common reasons are a different item or seller than the offer applies to, account or region restrictions, a membership requirement, or a minimum spend. Compare the offer conditions with your cart line by line.

Quick answer: A practical checklist for checking coupon eligibility and final price: item and seller restrictions, account limits, and what to verify at checkout.

Short answer: a code is only active for you when it is accepted for the exact item, seller, account, and region in your cart. A future expiration date alone is not proof.

Fast eligibility check

Check	What must match	Failure signal
Product	Exact ASIN, size, color, and quantity	The code applies to another variant
Seller	The seller named by the promotion	The marketplace changed the buy box
Account	Membership, first-order, or one-use rules	Your account already used the offer
Region and time	Correct store and merchant time zone	The offer is unavailable locally or has ended
Checkout	The final total includes the promised saving	The code is rejected or no saving appears

Check the exact product

Confirm that the code is attached to the same product, variation, quantity, and seller you intend to buy.

Read the conditions

Look for minimum-spend rules, selected-item limits, membership requirements, regional limits, and one-use restrictions.

Confirm the expiration and time zone

An end date can depend on the merchant’s time zone. DealsChecked displays offer times in Eastern Time when possible.

Trust the final checkout total

The checkout total is the final confirmation. If the code is rejected or the discount is missing, do not complete the purchase based only on an older listing.

Worked example

A listing shows code SAVE20 on a black 2-pack sold by Brand Store. Your cart contains a blue single unit from a different seller. The code can still be “active” while correctly failing on that cart. Match the variant and seller first, then confirm the final total.

What this check does not prove

DealsChecked can show the listed price, terms, and expiration, but it cannot see account-specific eligibility or a merchant’s remaining promotion budget. Checkout remains authoritative.
