Why is the checkout price different from the deal page?

The listed price is a dated snapshot; checkout is live and account-specific. Timing, variant, buy-box seller, cart conditions, region, and membership can all change the result.

What should I do if the price differs?

Return to the exact eligible variant and seller, meet any cart conditions, and use the current merchant total. Never complete a purchase on the strength of a listing price alone.

Quick answer: Compare timing, variants, sellers, and regions to explain a changed deal price and verify the correct checkout total.

Short answer: the listed price is a dated snapshot; checkout is live and account-specific. Timing, variant, seller, cart conditions, region, and membership can all change the result.

Cause and response matrix

Possible cause	What to compare	What to do
Price changed after the page update	Page timestamp versus current merchant price	Use the current total or wait; do not rely on the older price
Different variant	ASIN, size, color, capacity	Return to the exact eligible variant
Buy-box seller changed	Seller named by the promotion	Select the eligible seller if still offered
Cart condition missing	Quantity, bundle, minimum spend	Read the terms before adding extra items
Account or region restriction	Membership, first-order status, country store	Do not assume another shopper’s result applies

Worked example

A DealsChecked page showed a 128 GB model at $59.99 when it was last updated. The merchant now defaults to a 256 GB model at $79.99, while the 128 GB variant has moved to $64.99. The checkout difference is a mix of variant selection and a later price update, not a $20 calculation error.

How price history helps

Dated observations show what DealsChecked actually recorded, making it easier to distinguish a moving price from a permanent comparison anchor. A few observations still do not establish an all-time norm.

The rule

Never complete a purchase on the strength of a listing price alone - ours or anyone's. If the checkout number is wrong, walk away; nothing on a deal site obligates the merchant.

What this data does not prove

DealsChecked cannot see a shopper’s private account credits, delivery address, taxes, or live checkout state. We can explain likely causes and show timestamps, but the merchant total remains authoritative.
